Marie Nyantoinette Flash Contest Results

Hi, everyone!  Glad you can join us today for the results announcement of AW Facebook group's Marie Nyantoinette Flash Contest that ran from August 8th to 17th.  Without further ado, here's my pick for the winner.  Congratulations to Ilvia (Silvia Secaka)!

She wins $20 USD in digis of her choice, a blog badge, and an opportunity to GDT on AuroraWings Challenge Blog in November!  Congratulations, Ilvia!  Well done!

We had a very small turnout for this flash contest - maybe a lot of people are just enjoying the outdoors during the nice summer... or maybe the complexity of the image was a bit too much of a challenge for a short-duration contest - but the entries we received are all lovely and deserve a showcase here.  The following ladies will receive a blog badge and a digi of their choice.

Laila Anesland

Jan Thompson

Featured Creation by Fernanda

Hi, everyone!  Glad you can stop by our crafter showcase today featuring a creation by Fernanda Oravec with Bridal Veil digi.

I love the soft coloring on this image with shades of rose and lavender, glittered tulle and pink flowers.  So feminine and dreamlike.  You can see more of her paper crafts with Aurora Wings digis here.

The "Wedding Veil" is a digi made from my fantasy piece titled "The Dark Bride", based loosely on a Grimms' fairy tale called "the White Bride and the Black One".  The original (dark) version of the line art is available as "The Dark Bride" here.  The version used by Fernanda in her beautiful creation above ("Bridal Veil") is found here in my Etsy shop and here in the AW web shop.  Coming in at 1800 x 2400 pixels (at 300 dpi), this is a larger image (6" x 8"/15.2 x 20.3 cm) than most found in my shops.  Lots of details in the lace, which will give you fun opportunity for embellishing with beads, glitter, or pearls.  And if you feel extra-adventurous, color her as if she is ready for the Day of the Dead celebration with skull paint on her face.  Lots of possibilities!

Thank you again for joining us for a crafter feature!  Don't forget to check out the "Mermaid Madness" FB group contest (runs through August 31, 2014) and the "Under the Sea" challenge on our challenge blog (runs through September 13, 2014).  Be sure to read the rules at each place as they are different.

Till next time, happy coloring~!

Featured Creation by Helena

Hi, everyone!  Glad you can stop by for another crafter feature today. :)  Today's showcase is by Helena Kadyrova .  A beautiful creation in shades of greens and purple with "Little Elf Kia" digi.

Helena used a beautiful background paper, which also serves as a frame, AND a foreground to the colored image by cutting out some leaves in the corners of the rectangles for a subtle yet very special touch.  Green is always beautiful paired with white.  Purple embellishments pick up the shades of lavender in the colored image nicely.  Feminine, delicate, and so beautiful!  You can see her post with a close-up view of the coloring here.

"Little Elf Kia" is the very first digi I processed to be sold in my own shop when I started offering digital stamps in my Etsy store in May of 2013.  She is originally from a larger piece called "Arrival of Spring", which so happens to be my very first fantasy art I created for the Enchanted Visions Project when I first joined them.  It has been one of my personal favorites.  Kia has appeared in "What Dreams May Come" and "Autumn Harmony" as well.

The digi is 1500 x 2100 pixels at 300 dpi JPG, 5" x 7"/ 12.7 x 17.8 cm.  Available at both Etsy shop here and AW web shop here.

Thank you again for joining us today for a crafter feature.  Hope you can join us again on Friday, August 15, 2014, as the Showcase DT and I will unveil yet another new digi with a special showcase of samples.

Till then, happy coloring~!!

New Release - Marie Nyantoinette

Hello, everyone!  Welcome to the very special showcase with the ladies of the AuroraWings Challenge Blog DT today!  Since I've had a lot of new digis coming out this month, I asked them for help with a showcase and release of this new Marie Antoinette digi playfully called "Marie Nyantoinette".  The title is a silly play on words with a Japanese twist.  Cats' vocalizations are often expressed as "nyaa nyaa", or "nyan nyan".  The equivalent of generic 'kitty' in Japanese is 'neko-chan' or 'nyanko-chan'.  So when I drew the kitten with a wig in this image, I started calling it "Marie Nyantoinette" and it stuck. :D

You may be wondering, "Why the kitty?"  Well, if you're a Main Coon enthusiast (or generally large fluffy cats... like Norwegian Forest Cats, etc.), you've most certainly come across the lores and speculations on how they came to be.  One of the stories goes something like this...

In the court of Marie Antoinette, there were dogs and cats, allowed to freely wander about.  She adored Turkish Angora cats.  When the royal family was forced to run away from the Versailles, they planned the escape to America by ship.  The ship of Captian Samuel Clough was supposedly loaded with six Turkish Angoras along with other belongings.  Marie and her family were captured en route and never made it to the ship, but the ship with the cats on board eventually made it to Wiscasset, Maine, where her cats bred with the local short-haired breeds, and the offsprings developed into the modern day Main Coon.

Well, I think we all love period clothing and extravagant hair styles of the Rococo fashion.  It's fun and images like this provide us with an opportunity to be playful and try different color combinations and approaches.  Here they are!!  The fabulous sample creations made by the DT ladies of the AW Challenge Blog!!

Gorgeous in green!  She has colored the image with her favorite color, giving matching treatments to both Marie and her kitty.  Flags and polka dot bow add the playful touch that's just perfect!

Pink and light blue take center stage in a charming color scheme on this delightfully feminine and fun card by Karina.  Lots of little details to keep your eyes moving around from a beautiful frame to notebook-lined paper to the tiny kitty walking by.  Adorable!

An elegant beauty in lovely colors of red wine.  Donna has given gorgeous layers of frame and mats, along with real feathers to accentuate the feathers in Marie and kitty's hair ornament.  Feminine and elegant!

 Lorraine
Lorraine used shades of grey - from pale dove grey all the way to black - and touches of blush for an elegant presentation.  So striking and classy!

Gloria
Pretty in pink!  Glo has treated the girls to matching pink wigs.  Green eyes get a nice glow from the complimenting shades of rose.  Arched 'window' frame is a perfect treatment for this beautiful coloring!

"Marie Nyantoinette" is available as a 1500 x 2100 pixels (at 300 dpi) black and white JPG digi (5" x 7"/ 12.7 x 17.8 cm) at my Etsy shop here and at AW web shop here.

Be sure to check out the release event going on today at the AW Facebook group.  There will be a special flash contest -- the winner will get to GDT for the AW Challenge Blog for the November's challenge!

Still a week left to join our Sprite Delight challenge over at the Challenge Blog.  Catch the freebie Sunflower Sprite and join in on the fun!  Challenge closes on Saturday, Aug. 16 at 11:55 pm EDT.

Meet the DT and a New Release

Hi, everyone!  Today is an exciting day for me as I get to introduce you to my Showcase Blog Design Team!!  I have asked 6 ladies to join me for the Showcase DT, and am delighted to have them on my team.

Here they are!

LAILA
KAROLA
JULIE
SILVIA
DEBRA
JAN
The new team has been busy creating fabulous samples for me with a relatively short notice for today's new release, "The Secret" - the third in the little mer-kids series of mine.   I'm so excited to present to you the wonderful samples made by the 6 designers, all using the same image.  Enjoy the showcase of creativity and personality!

This colorful and fun creation from Silvia has lots of fun details from dies to silk flowers to the perfect sentiments.  The photo setup adds to the whimsy and magic.  Totally delightful!

Karola takes the underwater theme one step further by giving her project a treasure chest!  It adds to the story of the image and expands it for an utterly fabulous adventure tale.  Fantastic!

Laila's beautiful project is a box of treasures you can put goodies in.  But for us girls, it's a perfect place to keep our best-kept secret!  So special!

Jan has given the girls matching twinsie colors!  They are the best of the besties and always together.  Clean and simple style keeps the focus on the girls.  So charming!

Julie's girls are also color coordinated with classic ocean fish brights!  Charming little seahorse and clams dies expand the underwater theme to a wonderful effect.  Gorgeous!

Beautiful nautical theme from Debra with charming ensemble of embellishments in classic navy.  Keeping the spotlight right on the colorful mermaids for a magical effect!  So wonderful!

You can visit their blog posts by clicking on their names under the pics.  As always, all my designers (and myself) would appreciate if you would be so kind to stop by and leave some love. ^_^  Thank you so much!!

The "the Secret" digi is available at both my Etsy shop here and at AW web shop here.  It comes as an 1800 x 1500 pixels JPG file at 300 dpi resolution.  Measures 6" x 5" or 15.2 x 12.7 cm approximately.

Hope you enjoyed our Showcase DT's debut work today!  I always enjoy presenting a gallery of creations all using the same image.  I love the individuality, creativity, and personality of each designer!!

Till next time, happy coloring!!
