Featured Creation by Shirley

Today's showcase features a lovely floral creation by Shirley Chalmers, using the "Easter Lily" digi.  Shirley is a regular at our FB group's monthly contests, treating our eyes to her beautiful creations.

The pristine beauty and the stately elegance of the Easter Lily is complimented by the gorgeous papers in shades of green and blue.  Her wonderful coloring brings dimension to the image by carefully coloring the leaves with highlights and lowlights.  The visual effect is just stunning.  You can read more about this card in her blog here.  And while you're there, be sure to leave her some love. ^_^

The "Easter Lily" digital stamp is available at my Etsy shop here as a black and white JPG measuring 1500 x 1800 pixels (at 300 dpi)/ 5" x 6"/ 12.7 x15.2 cm.  I have many other floral digital stamps available at the Etsy shop, that are versatile for many different occasions.

Aurora Wings Etsy shop has just reached 5,000 sales.  To celebrate and thank you for all your love and support, I'm making the following codes available for you for the rest of the month.  Offer is valid at both of my shop locations (www.AuroraWings.etsy.com and www.AuroraWings.com).  Valid only on digital stamps.  Excludes all physical items.  Sorry, discount codes are NOT retroactive.

Winner's Announcement and a Group Showcase

Last weekend's special event had a nice turnout of members stopping by or playing all day, celebrating the 1,000+ members at the FB group.  One of the highlights of the event was the unveiling of the special edition freebie "Dandelion Sprite" (If you haven't caught her yet, you can find her at the link.)  Lots of downloads of this baby during the event and afterwards. ^_^  As part of our celebration, a Special Flash Contest was added for a chance for members to enter creations with the freebie sprite digi.  This contest was only open for a week, but we saw a good number of lovely entries.

Don't you just love it when you get a chance to get a freebie, which also gives you an opportunity to get even more freebies?  Well, this quick contest was just exactly that!  The contest winner will receive $20 USD worth of digis (plus a blog badge) AND every submission gets showcased today (which, of course, comes with a blog badge and a digi of choice)!  It's a win-win-win situation, if you will.

The judging for contest/challenge is always difficult, comparing apples and oranges.  I loved every single one of the submissions to this contest.  Thank you, everyone, for participating with such beautiful creations!

The winning piece I chose is by Catherine Lavoine.  I fell in love with her use of kraft paper and the clean-and-simple presentation, which really speak for the innocent and unpretentious dandelion.  The understated simple charm is irresistible!  Congratulations, Catherine!

Featured Creation by Jane

Today's showcase features something a little different from the cards - a gift bag - by Jane Bradshaw with "Snapdragon Sprite".

Colored beautifully in shades of orange, this Snapdragon Sprite's petals glow with satiny sheen.  Little baby dragon is colored in green, standing out nicely, looking cute.  The gift bag is finished with pretty details that all harmonize perfectly for an irresistible final product.  Wouldn't you love to receive this, regardless of what's inside?  I would! :D

You can read all about this wonderful creation in her words and see many more photos on her blog here.  While you're there, be sure to leave her some love. ;)

The digi, or in this case, the rubber stamp, used in Jane's project is called "Snapdragon Sprite", and is available from Sweet Pea Stamps here.  I have limited number of images licensed through SPS as rubber stamps.  The digital stamp versions can be found at my Etsy shop here and also in the digi shop at my web site here.

The digi comes as a 1500 x 2100 pixels (300 dpi) 5" x 7"/ 12.7 x 17.8 cm black & white JPG file.   The rubber stamp from SPS measures approximately 2.75" x 3.75".

Triple Feature: Anita, Charlene, & Elaine

Hi, everyone!  Thank you for stopping by today.  I have an unusual feature today of 3 crafters' work, using the same digi "Red Poppies".  I thought I'd bring this feature since we had so much fun checking out our designers' different takes on "Anima Sola" last weekend. ^_^  Here are creations by Anita Byrne, Charlene Short, and Elaine Preston.

Anita interpreted her creations in shades of orange, Charlene in green, and Elaine in red. (Click on the links under their creation photos to go to the individual posts featuring the particular piece so you can read all about them and give them all some love.) All have their own personalities come through in the ways they color the image and add all the embellishments into the layout of the cards.  All are so beautiful!!  I really LOVE seeing my digis getting colored by many crafters.

"Red Poppies" digital stamp comes as a 1500 x 2100 pixels, 300 dpi JPG line art image (5" x 7" / 12.7 x 17.8 cm) and is available at both my Etsy shop here and in the digi shop at my site here.

I'm so glad to have the FB group and this showcase blog where we get to see them all in one place.  Every day is a feast for the eyes with members sharing their gorgeous creations!  I really do feel that some of the most awesome inspirations are found at our group and challenge blog. :D  Thank you for your submissions, and happy coloring!

New Release # 2 - Cactus Sprite

Today's second digi release is an adorable Cactus Sprite!  Pudgy and spiky, this one has a unique charm, don't you agree? Just like all others in my Sprite series, this one comes in 1500 x 2100 pixels at 300 dpi, measuring 5" x 7" or 12.7 x 17.8 cm.  Available at my Etsy shop here.

Don't forget to find the freebie 1,000 Members Celebration Special Edition "Dandelion Sprite", if you haven't caught her yet. ;)  Thank you for coming to the celebration today.  It's wonderful to see the group grow steadily.  Thank you so much for your love and support!

New Release - Anima Sola

As part of our 1,000 Members Celebration event going on today at the FB group, we have a very special showcase/release of a new digi "Anima Sola".  Usually, I'm not as organized about releases and just make the listings available as new digis are drawn and processed, but this time, a little bit of planning and interests from many of our DT members helped this release a fantastic one to mark this very special milestone for our group.  I'm very happy about this. ^_^  Thank you so much, ladies!!

Please feast your eyes on the gorgeous creations by the members of AuroraWings DT.  I think it's delightful to see unique takes on the same line art by different designers.  Don't you agree?

"Anima Sola" means "Lonely Soul", a Christian notion in some traditions, often depicted as a chained female figure with arms outstretched skyward with salvation in sight, with flames all around her.  My original image was painted for one of the monthly themes at the Enchanted Visions Project (a fantasy artists group, where participating members paint to a pre-set theme).  I stylized my image with poppies to hint at the flames, and gave the woman a look a little more despairing than a lot of 'Anima Sola' images out there.  So my take was a bit more like a "Lost Soul".

This digi is available as a larger image 1800 x 2400 pixels (6" x 8"/ 15.2 x 20.3 cm) at 300 dpi JPG.  You can purchase a digi at my Etsy shop here.

Hope you enjoyed this special showcase today!  And thank you for being a part of our group's 1,000 Members Celebration.  ^_^
